Geomagnetic Storm Causes Celestial Spectacle
A stunning aurora caused by a severe geomagnetic storm is painting the sky, with reports of the Northern Lights being visible as far south as Atlanta. The celestial spectacle, which began around 10:30 p.m. ET, is the result of a powerful solar flare that erupted from the sun earlier today.
According to the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the flare has triggered a G4 geomagnetic storm, the strongest level on the scale. This means that the storm could cause disruption to power grids, communications, and other infrastructure.
